Plumbing Practitioners recognised for training commitment

The annual Plumbing Industry Training Awards (PITAs) were held last night (Thursday, 14 March 2013) to recognise individuals and companies in the Victorian plumbing industry for their commitment to ongoing training. Find out more about the winners here.

Business as usual

On 29 November 2012, the Planning Minister, Matthew Guy, announced plans to reform oversight of Victoria's building industry regulation, with the establishment of a new Victorian Building Authority, which will have responsibility for setting and enforcing building industry regulation. The functions of the Plumbing Industry Commission, Building Commission and Architects Registration Board of Victoria will be absorbed into the proposed new Authority, with the industry consulted on the proposed changes prior to legislation being introduced to Parliament in 2013. Until the legislation is passed by the Parliament and the new arrangements are in place, the Plumbing Industry Commission will continue to operate as normal.
