PUMA set to roar into life
Practitioner User Management Application (PUMA ) is a new initiative that will provide the Plumbing Industry
Commission with an online practitioner registration system in early 2010.
It will improve the Commissions' ability to fulfil their obligations to the plumbing and building industries and
provide improved services to practitioners.
Changes for plumbing practitioners:
Plumbing practitioners will be able to enter a secure area on the Commission's website with their own "PIN". On entry,
practitioners will be able to:
- Update their own personal details held by the Commission, such as address, phone number and email address
- Renew their registration or licence
- Purchase and lodge Compliance Certificates
- Book underground drainage inspections
- Review the status of Compliance
- Certificate purchases
- Book an appointment time to undertake a licensing assessment.
Individuals who are seeking to be registered or licensed with the Commission will be able to apply on line. Consumers will be able to verify practitioner registration and licence details of practitioners online.
Once PUMA is fully operational, the Commission will work towards further online services to practitioners, such
as insurance companies electronically confirming plumbing insurance.
A comprehensive communication program will be undertaken before PUMA's introduction to ensure plumbing practitioners understand how PUMA functions and how it will benefit their businesses.
